Expertise: Democracy, human rights, ideologies, extremism, European politics. Hagtvet is also part of the Network for the Study of Totalitarianism and Democracy, founded in 2008. The network is composed of researchers from several Norwegian institutions, all with an interest in studying modern totalitarian systems, ideas and regimes from a historical vantage.
